‘The Night The Resistance Took A Stand’ — Lyrics To An Anti-Trump Folk Song

My vision for this is it would be the inverse of The Band’s The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. It’s about not the end of hope, but the beginning of it. It’s about the people uniting to defeat Donald Trump after a major terrorist attack. Or something like that.

Well, here I stand
looking back on it all
seems like it was only yesterday
when the people had had enough
and decided to take a stand against injustice
it happened all at once
there really wasn’t much fuss
we all just decided we’d had enough
so we took to the streets and demanded justice

the night the Resistance
took a stand
the night the Resistance
took a stand

we all decided the time was right
we gathered in the streets
we knew that with enough of us
it’d be a fair fight
’cause The Man couldn’t hold us down
no matter how much they had the might

so we head to Trump Tower
knowing Trump was on the 24th floor
tweeting away
without a care
little did he know
we’d come for him at last
not on a dare
but we had justice on our side
and history that was sublime

[bridge]
but when push came to shove
we made it to the top of Trump Tower
the elevators did creek with our weight
but we got there safe

now we’re free as can be
living in liberty
no longer are we slaves
to a madman who can’t behave
