‘Tsar-A-Largo’ — #Lyrics To An Anti-Trump #Pop Protest Ballad

I don’t know why I keep writing these lyrics since for obvious legal reasons they will never be produced by anyone of note — the people who would actually do anything with them don’t want to risk being sued. I guess I keep doing it for the sheer enjoyment of telling a story in verse. The fact that it’s meant to be sung is icing on cake. This is meant to be a bit more serious than Bertie Higgins’ Key Largo. It’s meant to have a more of an Eagles vibe to it. But, whatever, no one cares. I just feel like writing and this is easy to do for me.

Tsar-A-Largo

So many ways to be corrupt these days
women come and go and you grab each one
Billy Bush won’t mind if you try enough
’cause he’s just there for fluf

the Russians are all around it seems
what gives with that is all I ask
they’re like our kissing cousins
the type we can get enough of

[chorus]
things are going to get tough
just plea the fifth
just plea the fifth
we’ll living just right
at Tsar-a-Largo
at Tsar-a-Largo

Ivanka bats her eyes
tells you she’ll always be there
with great flair
she’s your daughter, don’t go there
but even on a dare you know
the two of you will always have
at Tsar-a-Largo
at Tsar-a-Largo

[chorus]
things are going to get tough
just plea the fifth
just plea the fifth
we’ll living just right
at Tsar-a-Largo
at Tsar-a-Largo

[bridge]
Tsar-a-Largo
what more can I say
lovely as can be
the sea breeze will just be right
when the hoards attack the Winter White House
in the heat of the night

the scandals will fade
but the pain will remain I’m afraid
just give a moment of thought
make sure you you’re safe
don’t fall into hate
in the end we’ll always have
at Tsar-a-Largo
at Tsar-a-Largo

‘The Ballad Of Sally Yates’ — Lyrics To A Jaunty Pop-Rock Anti-Trump Protest Song

Again, I am just screwing around. No one gives a crap about any of these lyrics, but I feel like telling stories in verse, so you get this.

The Ballad of Sally Yates
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls

she tells the truth
block the forces of evil
but what happens to her
but she loses her job, oh yeah
so what can she do
she tells it like it is
does her thing
now she’s a martyr for cause
just you wait and see

now we’re all ready
ready to see
what happens next
she try to warn us about Gen. Flynn
tried to warn Trump she did
but what happen I ask you
what happened indeed
she was ignored
now we’ve got trouble on our hands

Sally Yates is the woman for us
she’ll help us out in our time of need
Sally Yates is the woman for us
she’ll bring evil to heel

[bridge]
what happens next
I just don’t know
but we’ll see I guess
maybe she’ll find herself a senator
or better yet a president

but that’s the future
that is indeed
we’re just getting started
Sally Yates is our hero
she’ll lead the way
to victory

‘Nevertheless She Persisted’ — Lyrics To A Pop-Rock Anti-Trump Protest Song

I just feel like writing song lyrics. None of the lyrics will ever be performed, but the Trump Administration spins off song titles at an alarming rate, so you get stuff like this. My vision for this would be a hard rocking pop rock song that maybe R.E.M. might perform.

Nevertheless She Persisted
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls

Nevertheless she persisted
is the rallying cry across the land
the Man wants to bring us down
tell us what to do
but he won’t know what hit him when we’re through

there’s a new cop in town
we’re going to shut the clowns down
we’re going to persist until we get our way
shout it from the hills, without a doubt
the Senate floor is just a start
soon enough we’ll be in the streets
giving you a wink
but telling nothing sweet

nevertheless she persisted
nevertheless she persisted
nevertheless she persisted
is what we all say
now get out of our way

what can I say
what can I do
to get through to you
she persisted and so will we
we’ll keep at it until we get our way
nothing will stop us now
we’ll never get shut down

nevertheless she persisted
nevertheless she persisted
nevertheless she persisted
is what we all say
now get out of our way

[bridge]
wait and see
just wait and see what we do
you’ll have to flee
once we get our way
the streets will be ours
any day

now we’re ready to stand and fight
we don’t take any delight in our battle
but before it’s over you’ll shout and rattle
’cause we’re coming to take the power that is ours
now get out of our way
while we reach for the stars

‘Easy D’ — Lyrics To An Old School Hip-Hop Song

I feel inspired. This would be a duet. It’s at least somewhat interesting if nothing else.

Easy D
Lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgrls

Let me break it down for you.

[man]
so you see her at the movie theatre
she’s looking pretty sweet
she’s got what you want and she smiles
ready for action you give her a grin back
her eyes twinkle, her lips are wet
what can you expect from such a lady
but her to sit next to you in the dark
before the movie is over she leans over
puts your hand on her leg
and tells you give me

the Easy D
the Easy D
the Easy D
’cause that’s the way it’s supposed to be

[woman]
at the bookstore you see him gawking at you
licking his lips
you think you can already feel him between your hips
you realize you’re both thinking the same thing
so it’s time for the two of you to get close as can be
he comes up to you, gets your name and number
it isn’t long at all before you
you’re resting together in slumber
that’s the way it’s supposed to be
that’s the way love is supposed to go
it doesn’t have to be difficult, baby
just give me
give me

the Easy D
the Easy D
the Easy D
’cause that’s the way it’s supposed to be

[bridge] (both)
now this is the modern age
when you don’t have to worry about getting laid
people give it up easy as can be
because everyone knows about the Easy D

[both]
love is a crazy thing
especially in this age we live
so don’t you fret, don’t you fear
you’ll get your easy D
and it’ll be a thrill

‘The Night The Resistance Took A Stand’ — Lyrics To An Anti-Trump Folk Song

My vision for this is it would be the inverse of The Band’s The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. It’s about not the end of hope, but the beginning of it. It’s about the people uniting to defeat Donald Trump after a major terrorist attack. Or something like that.

The Night The Resistance Took A Stand
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

Well, here I stand
looking back on it all
seems like it was only yesterday
when the people had had enough
and decided to take a stand against injustice
it happened all at once
there really wasn’t much fuss
we all just decided we’d had enough
so we took to the streets and demanded justice

the night the Resistance
took a stand
the night the Resistance
took a stand

we all decided the time was right
we gathered in the streets
we knew that with enough of us
it’d be a fair fight
’cause The Man couldn’t hold us down
no matter how much they had the might

so we head to Trump Tower
knowing Trump was on the 24th floor
tweeting away
without a care
little did he know
we’d come for him at last
not on a dare
but we had justice on our side
and history that was sublime

[bridge]
but when push came to shove
we made it to the top of Trump Tower
the elevators did creek with our weight
but we got there safe

now we’re free as can be
living in liberty
no longer are we slaves
to a madman who can’t behave

‘Con Way’ — Lyrics To A Country Anti-Trump Song #TheResistance

I really like the song Girl Crush by Little Big Town, so this would be a really slow country music song about KellyAnne Conway. At least, that’s my goal. I am using “con way” like it’s an actually place, a place on a street.

Con Way
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

America’s on a con way
it’s being deceived by a woman
who wants us to believe
it’s 1984 and we’re just surfs
that con way is something we’ve seen before
it lasted a long time
in faraway lands
now it’s hit our shores
some people adore the con way
while others find it a bore

con way is where Trump lives
he lives on that street
con way is the place of deceit
but Trump lives there
while we live in dispair

con way is where massacres of truth happen
where the truth is lost
we’re just waking up from deep sleep
the place we thought had left in defeat
but now we’re going to have to fight against it

but the residences of con way don’t care
all they care about is power
and telling us what to think
it’s enough to drive one to drink

con way is where Trump lives
he lives on that street
con way is the place of deceit
but Trump lives there
while we live in dispair

[bridge]
what can I say
I hope Trump fails
and we are set free
there’s little more to say
but I’m dismayed at our fate
unless we do something great

now what happens next
is anyone’s guess
the house on con way
is the people’s house
and hopefully it will return
to the path of truth

‘Executive Orders’ — Lyrics To An EDM Anti-Trump Protest Song #TheResistance

I may have used this before, but I am feeling inspired and feel like wasting time writing song lyrics, so you go this. This would be an EDM song like Basement Jaxx’s “Plug It In.” This is very much a first draft, just writing it for fun.

Executive Orders
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

When he wants to get his way
Trump signs things left and right
he does whatever Bannon tells him to do
sign sign sign, he does all day
even without looking at what it says

so now we’re all in hot water
like a frog that’s about to die
if it doesn’t hop out of the pot
but what are we do to
hit the streets and protest

executive orders
are the hot new thing
for the tyrannical madman
executive orders
executive orders

what happens next
is anyone’s guess
we’re going to get hit
with even more orders as the day go by
we have to do more than just sigh

now things are getting stressful
of this there can be no doubt
but soon enough Trump will have a route

executive orders
are the hot new thing
for the tyrannical madman
executive orders
executive orders

[bridge]
eventually, you’ll see
things will go our way
won’t happen over night
but it will happen
and it will be out of sight

nothing will change if we don’t protest
day and night, we’ll get no rest
but eventually you’ll see
things will break our way
and we’ll be free again
